Matt Damon is an American, not a Liberal. And shame on those who label him as such. For each of us has his talents and is allowed to express them.
The designation Liberal Hollywood actor no one has the right to give. Are there right wing mechanics? Do we say Conservative Fascist Maids of America? Left wing paralegals? Middle of the road Police Officers? I cry foul! It is but a ruse, a turn of words in the game called politics. This is a ploy of the right wing and has no place in proper public discourse. Hollywood Liberals sound so eighties. Does someone do makeup over there?
Mr. Designate-you-as-such may broadcast from the suits and opine broadly on who can speak and who cannot. But so can I, and so can they. I like McCain, and Palin seems nice, but a political decision is a sacred cow in America. Let it not be gored! We can make our decisions and yes, I'm interested in everything a major celebrity has to say. Chasten him not. It all comes down to being able to express in a democracy one's views. Admit tingly those in Hollywood lean to the left, but how would we know? They seldom give their views, and we as Americans deserve to hear them without tepid mediation. If you have the ability as do they, to cogently express the way they feel then let them through.
But why did they not clamor against Arnold? Why did they grow lukewarm in their assessments? I'll tell you why, of course, they became busy and deliberately distracted. So right Hollywood gets a buy and left Hollywood awakens the religious beast of orthodox conservatism. Hah.
Matt Damon put it better than the pundits. He spoke his mind when asked a direct question. And he put it in a way that we can learn from. CNN criticizes him? Hell, I'd hire him.
